Abstract

This research was conducted because of the encouragement of concern over the many natural disasters that continue to occur in Indonesia, which have resulted in enormous damage and loss. Many people lost their homes, possessions and even their lives. Natural disasters that occur are generally caused by environmental damage due to irresponsible human activity. The purpose of this article is to outline a biblical study of the cultural mandate based on the biblical texts found in Genesis 1:28; 2:15; 3: 17-19a and Colossians 1:20, using a hermeneutic approach. The results of the analysis of the text state that God has placed humans as God's representatives to carry out the task of stewardship of the environment for human welfare and the sustainability of all of His creation. However, because of man's fall into sin, man failed in this task. Because of His love for this world, God restores sinful humans and other creatures through the redemption of Jesus Christ on the cross, so that humans in a new perspective can carry out the task of stewardship of the environment in a responsible manner
